Career Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our team. This role offers a great opportunity for growth and advancement while working with a variety of automation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design and engineering of control systems for projects of varying complexity.
- Develop project scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, and accurate cost estimates.
- Produce high-quality industrial software programs aligned with project specifications.
- Coordinate with other team members and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide ongoing support.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and help them grow professionally.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Control Systems Engineer, with lead role experience preferred.
- Expertise in PLC programming (Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI (Rockwell, Wonderware, Proficy).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience in industrial software development.
- Familiarity with control system networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet).
- Experience in industries like food, chemical, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Availability for regional travel.

An internship is a critical step as students finalize their college education and ready themselves to enter the workforce. Solano Automation Solutions provides internships to future graduates in the fields of Engineering and Computer Science.
Interns work with team members on current projects to gain knowledge of Industrial Control Systems.
You will perform design and engineering functions in accordance with accepted practices and company standards and policies.
- Create and update I/O lists, bills of materials, control schematics and Human-Machine Interface programs of limited complexity.
- Generate and execute system test specifications of limited complexity.
- Gather field data and contribute to the preparation of project specifications.
- On small projects, interface with client as necessary to obtain and communicate project information related to project design parameters. Contributes to the preparation and maintenance of documentation including proposals, project budgets, memos, letters meeting minutes, scope changes and associated documents.
- 15% travel is required for the position.
